The condition of the book was new when I saw it on the item list, but acctually, it was not. There are many pages in this book have been marked and noted abviously. I’m so said that the seller was cheating me.
It is a great project management book with lot of free templetes. Writers explained everything very easily. Every project manager should have a copy of this book.
As a System Administrator that is handling a lot of things that are a bit above simple projects and below large scale projects this is a great primer. This book fill in vocabulary gaps, give advice on conflict management, and provides a lot of templates that work well for technical processes. I would recommend this book to anybody I know that is doing technical project management. Not sure if it would be helpful for a PM veteran since I am not one.
I’ve read the first three chapters and have to say I’m impressed. I cannot say this about other PM books and websites I’ve read or seen. I find the authors finishing or answering thoughts and questions about what I’m reading just a few words later on. If you are experienced, you know what I’m writing about. You start thinking, “Yea but what about????”, and she’s covered it.
I, also, have an over 20 year systems career and have run many different types of projects, to various levels of methodology and process.
I’d love to meet Colleen and will go to her BLOGs when I’m done.
For me, the 7th Habit is involved here, Sharpen the saw. Although I’ve been very successful in all of my projects it doesn’t hurt to hear from someone as experienced and knowledgeable as these two and, I think, particularly, Colleen. Colleen you are fine tuning me. Thanks very much.
Brava!
I purchased this book after my co-worker the Senior PM quit and I as the Business Manager had to jump in and manage the outstanding projects and team members alike. I had a basic understanding prior, but this book was essential. I am a book learner by nature & I liked the fact that this book had a CD that included templates for scopes and the like. I was able to effectively manage the projects and Engineers for 6 months and work with the new hire Sr. PM great! I did alot of additional research, but I felt that this book was an above entry-level PM book yet interesting enough to read it cover to cover. It gave me a great understanding of the jargon. I have since passed it on to other newbies. I would recommend this book especially for those who are new to the field or considering the field.
